Punjab University electronics department grabs first place at Nascon

Punjab University Electronics Department has won first prize in the National Software Competition (Nascon) 2009 for the contest 'Hurdle Avoidance Competition' held recently (April 11-12) at Fast Islamabad. Punjab University team supervised by Lecturer Umar Farooq comprised of Muhammad Usman Asad, Muhammad Amar and Asif Raza.
Other universities that participated in the contest included UET Lahore, Fast Islamabad, Fast Lahore, UET Taxila, Nust, Lums, PUCIT and the University of Lahore. Punjab University Electronic Department also grabbed first prize for the contest "Microcontroller Interacting Challenge" at International Software Exhibition and Competition (Softec) 2009, the competition held at Fast Lahore. The two-member PU students team included Asim Iqbal and Hassan Mahmood.
Earlier this month PU Electronics Department team of five students Muhammad Usman Asad, Muhammad Amar, Asif Raza, Osama Tahir, Asim Iqbal won gold medal in IEEP, Multi-topic Conference held in Pearl Continental Karachi on April 08-09, 2009. NED Karachi, Mehran UET Jamshoro, SSUET Karachi, Usman Institute of Technology, NUST Karachi, NUST Rawalpindi and Fast Islamabad participating in the conference.
While an 11-members student team of Punjab University has won the best delegation award in Munster University Model UN Conference 2009. The conference held in Munster, Germany was attended by more than 500 delegates from around the world. Punjab University students won 6 outstanding Diplomacy Awards in the conference.
Students who won awards included Syed Nishat Kazmi (Law), Bilal Ramazan (Law), Ameer Hamza Dogar (Law), Maria Mujeeb (PUCIT), Waqas Afzaal (IBA) and Raza Baqir Shah (IBA). The students delegation was being accompanied by Professor Dr Makshoof Athar (Advisor Students, PU) and Assistant Professor Samee Uzair Khan.
PU vice-chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran and PU Law College Principal Professor Shazia Qureshi, who is also the Director of PU Model UN Society, have congratulated the PU students on their historic achievement. It is notable that PU students have won best delegation award in Germany for the second consecutive year in Germany. PU faculty members also met the Rector of Munster University, Germany.
