ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways has finalized preparations for "Special Azadi Train" to start its journey a couple of days before 14 August and cover thousands of kilometer long journey across the country.

The officials Pakistan Railways told APP that like previous year, Special Azadi Train would travel across the country on the occasion of 70th Independence Day.

The Special Azadi Train would highlight the aspects of Freedom Movement, sacrifices of Armed Forces for the defence of the country and cultural heritage of all the regions, officials of Rawalpindi Carriage Factory told APP.

They said that preparations in this regard are underway at Rawalpindi Carriage Factory, where more than 100 laborers are working to finalize models of different cultural heritages of Pakistan, adding that till August 11 Azadi Train would be ready.

The Train will comprise of coaches representing the culture and traditions of all the four provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit- Baltistan.

The Azadi Train will also depict the country's fight against terrorism and extremism to eliminate this scrounges from the society, they remarked.

It will also update the masses about the steps taken for progress and development of the country, the officials added.

Azadi Train, in its month-long journey to different cities of the country, would stop at big stations across the country to hold

cultural shows, engaging the local artists.

An official of PNCA told a group of National Puppet Theater will also be the part of Azadi Train journey and they will hold puppet show on the national themes.

He said through these puppet shows, the youth and children will be educated on different important issues.

The artists of Lok Virsa will also perform in the cultural shows to be held as part of Azadi Train activities.
