Petition against education policy filed in IHC

22 Apr, 2009

A student of eighth class here Tuesday filed a writ in the Islamabad High Court against Education Policy 2008-09. Samman Saida has complained in the writ that the policy has adversely affected her educational pursuit. She has moved the writ through her guardian Rizwan Ahmed Khokhar.
She says she was in 7th class when the authorities introduced an Education Policy in 2007-08 in which the academic year was extended and she had to remain in the same class for extra months. In 2008-09, the educational year was again rescheduled and she was deprived of completing one year in 8th class, she contended.
She said that soon after joining the session of the 8th class, she had to go on summer vacation and after three months the season again started. The educational period was reduced but the vacation period remained intact, she said. The student claimed that after promulgation of policy in March this year she failed to qualify for science group because of single subject of mathematics as she was not able to secure 55 per cent marks.
She claimed but the change in education policies was affecting careers of a large number of students like her every year. Concerned authorities of the Ministry of Education and educational institutes have been made respondents by the petitioner.
