ISLAMABAD: Around 15 tourists stuck at Babusar s Top due to floods and land sliding while National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Gilgit-Baltistan District Management Authority (GBDMA) have started rescue operation for entrapped tourists.

Karakoram Highway (KKH) was blocked at two locations in District Diamer on Wednesday but due to timely response of National Highway Authority (NHA), NDMA, and GBDMA, the road blocks have been cleared and the road was now open for light traffic, an official of NDMA informed.

He informed that medium to high level flows are expected in river Chenab at Marala, Khanki and Qadirabad alongwith the Nullahs of rivers Ravi and Chenab. Vulnerable communities along reaches of these rivers, their tributaries and Nullahs especially Palkhu Nullah be sensitised for requisite measures.

In the wake of GLOF Alert by Pakistan Meteorological Department, vulnerable communities in District Chillas and Gilgit-Baltistan to be sensitized to remain alert and take requisite precautionary measures, he added.
