Water level at Mangla, the second largest water reservoir of the country, came at the level of 1140.40 feet which was more than 100 feet above than the dead level 1040 feet on Thursday morning which is considered enough water for meeting Rabi season need.
According to data released by Indus River System Authority (Irsa) here on Thursday, water level at Mangla, the second largest water reservoir of the country was recorded 1140.40 feet which was more than 100 feet higher than the dead level which is 1040 feet. Mangla Dam received a total inflow 59,594 cusecs water on Thursday morning and only 35,000 cusecs water was released according to official data.
Water level is improving in all rivers especially in Indus, Jhelum and Kabul rivers and it will help not only in reducing load shedding in the country with increase of hydel power generation owing to release of water from Tarbela and Mangla also to meet growing water demand by farmers for sugarcane, cotton and rice crops.
However, 1412.38 feet water level was recorded at Tarbela, the largest water reservoir of the country, which was more than 43.38 feet higher than the dead level 1369 at the dam.
Tarbela Dam received a total inflow 46,500 cusecs on Thursday morning and only 40,000 cusecs water was released from the dam. Water inflow 46,700 cusecs was recorded in the River Kabul and 21,294 cusecs inflow was recorded at Marala of Chenab River. A total inflow in all the rivers was recorded 174,088 cusecs and 142,994 cusecs water was released on Thursday according to the official data released by Irsa.
