President Dmitry Medvedev dismissed the head of Russia's military intelligence agency on Friday, the Kremlin said, after he was reported to have opposed sweeping reforms. Medvedev signed a decree "to remove Army General Valentin Vladimirovich Korabelnikov from the position of chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) ... and to dismiss him from military service," said a Kremlin statement.
He was replaced by his deputy, General Alexander Shlyakhturov, the Kremlin said.
