The honourable Chief Justice is restored. To expect one individual, no matter how determined he is, to take up and organise the whole country is virtually impossible and too much to ask for. Pakistan, like many third world countries, is and has been a victim of personality politics, policies and whims.
We simply tend to forget that those nations who have progressed, have developed as a result of the systems and institutions that they built and nurtured, to reduce and restrict human likings, disliking and discretions.
Our Chief Justice and other judges do take, but can take suo moto actions only in a fractions of the cases which happen, because only a short number of cases are brought to their attention by the volatile media or otherwise, whereas scores of injustices, crimes, murders, rapes and thefts go on unnoticed and unheard of. The honourable Chief Justice, as I said earlier cannot solve everything.
But if the Chief Justice can, till his tenure lasts up to 2012, clear the backlogs pending in different courts in Pakistan and ensure that a fresh case is decided within 1 year of its institution, he will become immortal and go down in history as the one who has played his part for Pakistan and to have repaid his countrymen for their sacrifices for his restoration.
