United Nations must take serious cognisance of the external interference and involvement of India, Afghanistan and Russia in terrorist activities on Pakistan soil.
Leading expert on International Law and Principal, Punjab University Law College, Shazia Mujahid Kamran while talking to APP here on Sunday said that according to international law and charter of UN, all states across the world irrespective of their size are independent and no other state even superpower can directly or indirectly interfere in the internal affairs of any other state.
She said that concrete evidence of external interference of these countries has been prima facie established for patronising the terrorist activities in Pakistan. She said that all major incidents of terrorism and suicide attacks have been linked to India and Afghanistan and the terrorists trained in these countries and North Waziristan are being despatched back to Pakistan for achieving their ulterior motives, sabotage the peaceful atmosphere and destabilise the country.
The Principal said that conspiracies are being hatched to create law and order situation and isolate Pakistan while a militant organisation the Balochistan Liberation Army is being funded by Russia and fully backed by India which, she added, is crystal clear violation of UN charter.
Mrs.Shazia said that it is an eye opening admitted fact world over that these three countries are interfering in internal affairs of Pakistan which she added must be checked and these countries must desist from such nefarious designs otherwise peace at stake in the region will be further endangered.
She said that according to article 33 read in conjunction with sub clause 3 of article 2 of the charter of the United Nations clearly define that "All members shall settle their international disputes by peaceful means in such a manner that international peace, security and justice are not endangered".
The Principal said that otherwise United Nations Security Council (UNSC) will miserably fail to achieve its prime responsibility of maintaining international peace and security. She said that it is the prime responsibility on the part of members of UNSC to exert pressure and exercise their sphere of influence on these countries to stop interference without threatening and sabotaging the world peace.
She said, in principle, if these countries did not respond to UNSC resolutions, then sanctions can be imposed or action can be taken with respect to threats to peace, breach of peace and acts of external interference.
Mrs. Shazia said that Security Council having full authority must act judiciously to maintain its integrity and existence otherwise it will be presumed that the vested interests of super powers are not only protected and safeguarded by straightaway ignoring the poor states. She urged the international community especially big powers and developed countries to shun their double standard and dual character. Mrs.Shazia urged the entire Muslim Ummah to forge unity in their ranks to thwart the nefarious designs of all anti-Islam forces world wide otherwise, they will suffer irreparable loss.
She said if urgent and corrective measures were not taken on war footing by Security Council, the very objective of United Nations would never be achieved.
