Government to utilise resources to ensure basic amenities to people: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said on Sunday the government is exploring all available resources to ensure provision of basic amenities of life to people despite the financial constraints.
Addressing a public gathering at Kobay Chak here, the Prime Minister said that the government has taken a number of initiatives to alleviate poverty and backwardness from the less developed areas so as to bring them at par with the developed areas of the country as soon as possible.
He said that the Benazir Income Support Programme launched by the government would provide financial assistance to the poorest of poor segments and for empowerment of the womenfolk.
He said the government has started mega housing projects in the country under which one million housing units would be constructed for the poor, needy and government employees as well as general public on affordable costs. Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani called upon the people to forge unity in their ranks and co-operate with the government in their efforts to tackle the internal and external challenges.
The Prime Minister said that completion of mega development projects would provide tremendous boost to generate socio-economic activities in the country and open new employment opportunities for the jobless youth to a great extent.
