FBR officials get Rs 3,631,429 in rewards during 2006-08: National Assembly informed

Sales tax, excise and income tax officials (Grade-17 and above) have obtained rewards of Rs 3,631,429 on detection of corruption cases within their respective departments during 2007-08 and 2006-07.
In a written reply to the National Assembly here on Monday, the Ministry of Finance issued names and designations of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials in B-17 and above who were granted rewards for unearthing corruption cases in Income Tax, Sale Tax and Customs and Excise Departments under the administrative control of FBR during 2006-07 and 2007-08.
During 2007-08, tax officials were granted rewards of Rs 2,265,215. Tariq Mehmood, Chief Accounts Officer obtained reward of Rs 52,520; Muhammad Zahid, Collector, Rs 53,860; Javed Zafar Malik, Assistant Collector, Rs 22,570; Abdul Raheem, Computer Programmer, Rs 31,180; Khalid Raza, Accounts Officer, Rs 36,100; Muhammad Younas Khan, Additional Director, Rs 269,160; Nasir Masroor, Additional Collector, Rs 459,960; Shafqat Mehmood, Secretary, Rs 459,960; Jahazeb Mehmood, Additional Director, Rs 131,579; Khalid Naseem, Director, Rs 295,988; Muhammad Younas Khan, Additional Director, Rs 252,338 and Abdul Sattar Aora, Additional Collector, Rs 200,000.
In 2006-07, tax officials obtained rewards of Rs 1,366,214. Muhammad Arshad Collector obtained Rs 64,490; Syed Faisal Saeed Bukhari, Deputy Collector, Rs 21,770; Jawad Zafar Malik, Assistant Collector, Rs 18,560; Raza Ashfaq Sheikh, Assistant Collector, Rs 24,980; M.A.Anjum, Assistant Collector, Rs 27,120; Basit Maqsood Abbasi, Assistant Collector, Rs 34,000; Abu Nasar Shuja, Assistant Collector, Rs 20,000; Zahir-ud-Din, Director, Rs 535,440; Khalid Nasim, Director, Rs 232,200; M. Ashfaq Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner, Rs 153,234; Manzur Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner, Rs 18,420 and Shabi-ul-Aijaz, Taxation Officer obtained reward of Rs 216,000 during this period.
