The authorities in occupied Kashmir have put APHC leader Nayeem Ahmed Khan under house arrest. According to Kashmir Media Service, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, talking to a delegation of mediamen who called on him at his residence, deplored that on one hand, India was claiming to be a democratic country and on the other, it was using undemocratic tactics to suppress Kashmiris for carrying out election boycott campaign.
The APHC leader pointed out that New Delhi wanted to mislead the international community as if the Kashmir dispute was settled. However, he maintained that the people of occupied territory would frustrate the nefarious designs aimed at sabotaging their just struggle.
He appealed Kashmiris to stay away from Indian Parliamentary elections. It is worth mentioning here that senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Hurriyet leaders, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Meraj-ud-Din Kalwal and Zamrooda Habeeb had already been placed under house arrest. They had been asked to remain indoors while a large number of Indian police personnel had been deployed outside their residence. The action had been taken to thwart the election boycott campaign and address to the public meetings.
