More efforts stressed to involve youth in healthy activities

More efforts would be needed for organising sports tournaments across Swabi District to keep away the youth from bad activities. This was stated by NWFP Minister for Zaakat & Usher Haji Zarshad Khan Advocate while presiding over a meeting here Tuesday.
The meeting was also attended by DCO Swabi Zakir Hussain, who is also chairman of the District Sports Committee with District Sports Officer Tariq Khan, Nazim Sard China Muhammad Kamal Khan, DPE Tariq Zaman and EDO Finance and Planning Amjad Ali Shah.
The Minister while presiding over the meeting also discussed in detail about organisation of different sports activities at the district level in various games like hockey, cricket, volleyball, traditional games like Mukha, Koda, Kabaddi and Bull races.
The Minister was told that a grant of Rs 1.5 million has been allocated in the district sports fund besides, funds from Tehsil Municipal Administration Swabi and Chota Lahore would also be collected so that more sports activities could be organised to involve youth in healthy activities.
The Minister directed the concerned quarters to take much needed steps for the promotion of traditional games like Mukha, Kabaddi and Tatai through which local talent would be able to come at national and international levels. Holding of these traditional games in other parts of the province and country would also ensure maximum exposure to the local talent, the Minister said.
