CSDO Sialkot, Unicef ink deal on child protection

Child and Social Development Organisation (CSDO) Sialkot signed a Project Co-ordination Agreement (PCA) with Unicef for the protection of children from hazardous occupations in Sialkot and adjoining districts in a joint meeting held on Thursday at CSDO office Sialkot
The overall objective of the partnership is to create protective environment for children at risk of abuse and exploitation from hazardous occupations by taking protective measures through advocacy, awareness, skill enhancement for income generation and monitoring child rights violations.
This shall be achieved with collective efforts of the service providers and public-private partnership to address the poverty based child protection issues. Key outcomes of the project are to set up a model of child protection system by creating a sustainable formal and non formal education and vocation opportunities for the most marginalised children and youth in selected areas. The second is to promote positive environment for public private partnership to strengthen Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The project will also avail the technical support from various stakeholders such as ILO, Teveta, Sialkot Chamber of Commerce of Commerce & Industry (SCCI), District Government particularly Labour, Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Mall, and Literacy Departments.
The meeting was presided over by Meer Farooq Meyer. Shamshad Qureshi, Child Protection Specialist, Unicef Lahore, Khawaja Zakauddin, Former President and Founder Member of CSDO, Dr Nouman Idris Butt, General Secretary CSDO, Sh. Abdul Majid, Finance Secretary CSDO, Qaisar Iqbal Baryar, Executive Body Member CSDO, Javed Gill, EDO-Community Development, Muhammad Ashraf, EDO-Literacy, M. Nawaz, District Officer, Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal, Rana Mumtaz Ahmad Khan, District Officer Labour, Ijaz Ahmed, Project Manager CSDO and Rauf Ilyas, Dy. PM/IT Officer CSDO attended the meeting.
