Taliban militants early on Friday briefly kidnapped 10 paramilitary soldiers from their local headquarters in Dir, police said. The abductions took place in the town of Dir, in the Upper Dir district of Malakand. Up to 60 Taliban militants stormed the local paramilitary headquarters and snatched 10 personnel shortly after midnight, Dir police chief Ijaz Ahmed told AFP, before later releasing them.
"They were released unconditionally," he said. Atif Rehman, head of the district administration in Upper Dir, confirmed that more than 50 armed militants attacked the local paramilitary headquarters and abducted 10 personnel for 13 hours until they were freed.
