'Sports activities help build healthy society'

Sports activities not only provide excellent entertainment, but also bring discipline in life and play a key role in building a healthy society, said Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman here on Wednesday.
"Pakistan Air Force will continue playing its role in the development of various games at national and international level and support players in attaining highest level in games," he said while speaking at an award distribution ceremony here. Pakistan Air Force awarded Rs 50,000 cash prizes to each member of PAF volleyball team on winning the National Volleyball Championship-2009. Pakistan Air Force, which is already patronising the games of squash and ski in the country, will also participate and compete in other sports events to raise the standard of competitions.
Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Administration) Air Vice Marshal Waseemuddin and Sports and Physical Education Director Group Captain Farooq Ahmad were also present on the occasion.
Pakistan Air Force volleyball team clinched the title by outplaying Pak Army volleyball team in the final match played at Sports Complex, Lahore. The championship was played in Sports Complex, Lahore, from March 17 to 24. It is the first time in the history of Pakistan Air Force that the PAF volleyball team has won the National Volleyball Championship. The PAF volleyball team also holds the title of Inter-Services Volleyball Championship.
