The Karachi Port handled 142,729 tonnes of cargo including 109,455 tonnes of import and 33,274 tonnes of export, 3,709 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) during last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
The freights comprised of 107,677 tonnes of dry cargo including 56,455 tonnes of general cargo; 4,834 tonnes of fertiliser; 9,350 tonnes of cement; 22,700 tonnes of coal; 6,081 tonnes of scrap; 8,257 tonnes of clinker and 35,052 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Nine ships namely viz Bunga Pelangi Dua, LTC Calvin Pititus, Dubai, YM Inauguration, Nyzdan, Al-Salam-II, San Jiang Kou, Raysut-1 and Kota Harum sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Ten vessels namely Al Marwah, Sima Sahra, Hyundai Admiral, Kota Harum, BBC K Weser, Bui K Arrow and Standard Vigor are currently at the berths to load/offload tankers, containers, general cargo and bulk respectively.
Nine ships namely Amalienborg, Hyundai Admiral, Fabulous, African Puma, Standard Vigor, Sima Sahba, Marine Bulker, Santiago and Sapphire Seas are expected to sail on Wednesday, while two more ships namely Dorian and Al Marwah are expected to sail on Thursday.
A vessel viz Yakima Princess due to arrive on Wednesday carrying clinkers. While eight more ships Smooth Houn,H&H Tide, Ocean Bright, Oriental Moon, Rising Pholnix, Adriatic Arrow, River Globe and Al Karim M are due to arrive on Thursday, carrying jet oil, containers, rice, sugar, cement and steel, respectively.
