UN working hard to complete Benazir Bhutto probe body

07 May, 2009

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has said that he is working hard to complete the fact-finding commission to look into the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. Replying to a question at his monthly press conference at UN Headquarters in New York on Tuesday, he said he had not been able to find the third member of the inquiry commission.
The commission will be headed by Chile's UN Ambassador Heraldo Munoz, and includes Indonesia's former attorney general Marzuki Dar Usman. The third member will be either from Norway or Sweden. "We are still looking for a third member for this inquiry commission. Unfortunately, we have not been able to find an appropriate person, who will work on that," Ban said. "I am working very hard to establish that inquiry commission as soon as possible." No date has been set for the start of the probe by the commission.
