Vigilance committees to check wheat procurement

DCO Saeed Wahlah has constituted vigilance committees to ensure the transparency in wheat purchase process and to keep close check regarding provision of manifold facilities to the growers at the wheat procurement centres.
These committees comprise of police officers, Anti Corruption and revenue departments officials which would check weight of purchased wheat, record of official and private bardana, storage facilities, availability of public address system, issuance of tokens to loaded trolleys and ensuring unloading within 5 hours. The said committee would keep an eye on middlemen to foil their attempts of sale of wheat at government centres.
These committees have also been authorised to raid Ghala Mandis for ensuring the implementation of support price Rs 950 per 40 kg announced by the government and would take legal actions against middlemen who purchased wheat less than the government fixed price. Moreover the committees would also take actions against unauthorised holders of official bardana, besides keeping a close check over any malpractice and evil motives of the staff of revenue, agriculture, food and market committees.
According to details, DDO (Colony) Khalid Manzoor, CO Anti-Corruption Babar Anwar and DSP (Hq) Tasneem Sabir have been deputed on wheat procurement centre at Set 5 Faisalabad, Darul Ihsan and Sir Shameer Road. Tehsildar Malik Afzal, AD Anti Corruption Khalid Kanju and DSP Jaranwala Naeem Aziz Sandhu have been assigned centres Jaranawala, Buchiana, Rodala Road and Jhok Ditta. Secretary DRTA Rai Wajid, CO Anti Corruption Malik Javed and DSP Tandlianwala Irfan Ullah would look after Tandlianwala, Mamukanjan and Kanjwani centres.
