09 May, 2009

The Punjab government has called Rangers in Mianwali and Bhakkar districts, avert any possible terror attack. Sargodha Regional Police Officer Usman Anwar said that the Rangers had been deployed in Mianwali and Dajal (Bhakkar) checkpost on the Punjab-NWFP border.
He said that services of the Rangers had been acquired due to shortage of police force, and threats of kidnapping of Chinese engineers by terrorists in Mianwali. The Chinese Ambassador in Pakistan, Luo Zhaohui, had asked the Pakistan government on Thursday to take steps to ensue security of about 10,000 Chinese engineers working on various projects in the country.
He said China had reservations over US policies in the region. However, he said, his country was co-operating with regional countries including Pakistan and the US to eliminate terrorism and establishment of peace in the region.
