Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik said on Friday that militants are on the run in Dir, Buner and adjoining areas due to successful operation of the security forces. Talking to a private TV channel, he said, "The days of militants are numbered, therefore it is better for them to surrender."
"Our performance is not for anybody, our performance is for our own country, we know how to handle the war and with the grace of Allah the Almighty, we have handled it very well", he added. Rehman Malik said the security forces have achieved success in Fata, Buner, Lower Dir and Swat.
The Minister said operation launched against the militants as they were challenging the writ of the government. "The government will not allow any one to challenge its writ," he added. He lauded the services of Pakistan army and FC officers and Jawans for conducting successful operation in Dir and Buner.
He said the government gave a chance to peace in the areas by implementing Nazam-e-Adl on the demand of people. He regretted that other party did not follow the terms and condition as laid down in the agreement. "After the agreement Taliban were bound to lay down their arms but they did not", he added. To a question he said Islam allows both girl and boys to get education. He said nation have totally rejected the ideology of Taliban.
