On the directives of Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif, all the provincial secretaries and other senior officers held open courts on Friday in a bid to resolve public grievances. The Chief Minister had asked all the secretaries and other senior officers in Punjab to hear public complaints in open courts three days in a week Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8.00am to 10.00am.
On Friday, the senior officers while sitting in the premises of their offices heard public complaints and issued on the spot orders for redressal. Secretary Health Punjab Anwar Ahmad Khan has suspended a stenographer Muhammad Hussain on the charge of taking bribe from a doctor Mukhtar Zafar. He also ordered transfer of a Naib Qasid Daud from Lahore to Bhakkar.
During open court of Secretary Health, Dr Zafar Mukhtar presented a written complain that a stenographer of Health Department Muhammad Hussain has taken Rs 700 as bribe for putting up his file and the official demanded a further Rs 2000 for the posting. Dr Mukhtar also alleged that Naib Qasid Daud was also involved in this case. Secretary Health immediately called both officials in the open court and after listening to versions of both the sides, ordered immediate suspension of stenographer and transfer of Naib Qasid to Bhakkar. The Secretary also directed to conduct an immediate inquiry against the suspended official under disciplinary rules.
Similarly, on a complaint of a patient Syed Imtiaz Ahmad resident of Muslim Town Lahore that clinical psychologist Dr Saad Bashir Malik of Jinnah Hospital misbehaved with him and security guard beat him on the order of the concerned doctor. Secretary Health Anwar Ahmad Khan directed Principal AIMC Professor Dr Javed Akram to conduct an inquiry against the concerned doctor and furnish a report within a week after fixing responsibility.
Secretary Health also ordered posting of a lady doctor Nasreen in a hospital of urban area, who had completed three year of service at a rural health center in Faisalabad.
On a complaint of Shabaz-ul-Haq, resident of Sheikhupura against a medical officer Dr Waqar Ahmad of DHQ hospital Sheikhupura, the Secretary Health ordered an inquiry and appointed Director Health Dr Ahmad Afifi Inquiry Officer, in the case. A total of 19 complainants appeared in the open court of the Secretary Health Punjab on Friday.
