Rwandan tea output rises 28 percent

Rwanda's tea production rose 28 percent to 1,893 tonnes in March from 1,479 tonnes in the previous month on favourable weather conditions, the Rwanda Tea Authority said on Friday. Export sales leapt 65.6 percent to $5.3 million in March, compared with $3.2 million in February, the body said.
"The weather was a little bit normal (in March) although the first two months (of 2009) were not too appetising," Anthony Butera, head of the authority, told Reuters.
