Army dispatches relief goods to IDPs

18 May, 2009

The third consignment of relief goods for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) in NWFP has been dispatched by the Corps Headquarters Karachi on Sunday. It is worth mentioning that Pakistan Army has already announced their one-day pay and giving part of its daily ration (items of daily food including flour, sugar, ghee and dall) to help IDPs.
The food items will be able to feed about 80,000 adults daily along with establishing two field hospitals and placing medical resources in all IDP camps. The relief goods sent through a PAF C-130 aircraft comprised eatables and items of daily use, says an ISPR press release. A large number of NGOs and philanthropists have started depositing relief items to army authorities as donations at Central Ordinance Depot (COD), Rashid Minhas Road, which has been established for collection of relief items.
These items will be sent to IDP camps in NWFP.
