Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance Shaukat Tarin has asked the West and donors that their help could win hearts and minds of internally displaced persons (IDPs). The G-8 Pakistan based envoys who called on the advisor Monday assured him of their respective governments' full support for the welfare and rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs).
They expressed willingness for all possible assistance in meeting the basic needs of IDPs in the camps and their return to homes after normalisation in their respective areas. Advisor to Prime Minister called upon the foreign donors to realise that this is the most suitable time to win hearts of displaced people who are looking for assistance.
"Certainly such assistance at this critical moment would leave good impression amongst the locals," said Tarin while giving details about efforts being made by the government, in collaboration with donor governments and international agencies for the welfare, rehabilitation and safe return of IDPs.
The G-8 Ambassadors delegation comprised Giani De Michelis, Former Minister for Foreign Affairs of Italy, Robert Binkley, British High Commissioner, Randolph Mank, Canadian High Commissioner,
