US corn and soyabean export premiums at the Gulf of Mexico were mostly steady on Thursday, with a strong weekly export pace supporting soya. Traders said, soyabeans were underpinned by tight supplies with strong exports shrinking old-crop supplies. USDA said export sales of old- and new-crop US soyabeans last week totalled 1.4 million tonnes.
China booked 192,600 tonnes of old-crop soya, and 236,000 tonnes of new-crop supplies. The export data quieted scattered market talk that demand from China was fading, especially for old-crop soyabeans. USDA said export sales of old- and new-crop US corn last week totalled 822,000 tonnes. Taiwan Sugar bought 23,000 tonnes of US corn and 12,000 tonnes of US soyabeans from Toepfer. In wheat, there was no confirmation of talk that Iraq had purchased 150,000 tonnes of Canadian wheat and 100,000 tonnes of Australian wheat at its tender.
