Mirpur Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Muhammad Tayyeb said on Saturday that an extensive campaign was underway for the collection of donations for the relief of displaced families of Swat and other parts of the Malakand. He said that generous donations including cash and goods was pouring in the AJK Prime Minister Relief Fund for the compensation of Swat affectees.
He revealed that the relief goods worth over Rs 1.50 million has yet been collected only in last few days. He said at least two dozens of the displaced families from the troubled areas of Swat and other parts of Malakand division have arrived here, in the wake of the military operation against militants and extremists there.
Most of these affected families have taken refuge in Dadayal sub division of this district, he said. He added that some of the families have also reached Mirpur to take refuge till the situation returns to normal in their ancestral turbulent zone. He said AJK Prime Minister Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan has appealed to the people across Azad Jammu Kashmir to contribute generously donations for the relief of the affectees of the troubled Swat and other districts of the Malakand.
