The students and teachers of Islamabad College for Girls (ICG), F-6/2 have collected relief goods for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) which will be dispatched on Sunday (today).
The students as well as teachers of the college voluntarily offered their services in the collection of relief goods and contributed wholeheartedly for assisting their brothers and sisters in moment of crisis and share their miseries.
Principal of the college, Shaista Peerzada told APP that the educational institutions in federal capital are actively playing their role in relief activities for IDPs who have been dislocated from the areas of Swat and Buner. Whenever, any untoward situation occurs in the country, the students at school, college and university level come forward with their support.
The students of the college have set an example for others by extending financial and moral support to the dislocated people. The relief items collected by students and teachers include sufficient quantity of rice, pulses, sugar, surf, soap, biscuits, fans, matrices, match box and will be forwarded to the IDPs residing in Mardan today in the presence of FDE officials, she informed.
Around 175 cartons carrying eatables and ration were among the relief items collected by the students of class I to graduation level and teachers besides cash amount. One of the teacher Rubina Maqbool said the principal of the college is a driving force for all the staff and she has motivated the students to contribute for this noble cause. "Those who have been migrated are our brothers and sisters and we will not stay in rest unless all the IDPs are settled in their lives".
A student of class 5th, Reenum Khan said "we have collected relief goods for sharing the sorrows of displaced persons and bring smile on the faces of displaced children". Director Model Colleges, Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), Mujahid Zameer talking to this news agency said the students of the college have collected relief items during the short time period of three weeks.
