Australia's special envoy calls on President

Australia's special envoy for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard C Smith called on President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday and discussed with him regional situation. The meeting was attended among others by Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Secretary General to the President Salman Farouqi, spokesperson Farhatullah Babar.
Australian High Commissioner Zorica McCarthy and other members of the delegation were also present. President invited the special envoy to undertake an aerial view of the Pakistan Afghanistan border area, whenever he has time, to have an assessment of the nature of terrain.
The envoy thanked the President for his gesture. During the meeting the special envoy briefed the President on Australia's efforts for ensuring peace and security in the region. President Zardari appreciated Australia's efforts for peace and said Pakistan has always been a believer in maintaining peaceful ties with its neighbours to attain sustainable development and prosperity in the region.-PR
