Pak-Iran gas pipeline deal hailed

'Pakistan will receive a supply of over 750 million cubic feet gas a day during the ensuing period of 25 years, after laying of 1000 kilometre long pipelines in Pakistan and 1100 kilometre in Iran.' Hailing the gas sale and purchase agreement between Islamabad and Tehran, the Chairman, Pakistan Dry Ports Association and Faisalabad Dry Port Trust, Sheikh Ashfaq Ahmed said.
In a statement issued on Monday, the PDPA Chief said that the Gas Supply Project was designed in 1995 to be signed between Iran-Pakistan-India. But due to lukewarm attitude of India towards the Project in 2008, Pakistan had no choice but to sign a Gas Supply Package with Iran.
