Indonesian shares ended 1.77 percent lower on Tuesday, led by profit-taking in mining and bank blue chips, dealers said. The Jakarta Composite Index lost 33.38 points to close at 1,857.59 in thin volume. Dealers said worries about the direction of Wall Street were weighing on regional sentiment.
"Falls across Asian markets on fears stocks in the US will head lower after the long weekend also inspired selling," a traader told Dow Jones Newswires Bumi Resources slid 6.5 percent to 1,940 rupiah, Astra Agro fell 4.6 percent to 17,800, while Gas Negara lost 3.6 percent to 2,700. Telkom ended 0.7 percent higher at 7,400 rupiah. The Indonesian rupiah ended weaker at 10,390 to the dollar compared with 10,310 at the last close.
