Recent major hack on the HBO has led to the leak personal phone numbers and email addresses of ‘Game of Thrones’ actors including Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, and Emilia Clarke.
As reported earlier a security breach happened at HBO’s system and the hackers reportedly stole 1.5 terabytes of data, including scripts for upcoming ‘Game of Thrones’ episodes and two unreleased episodes of ‘Ballers’ and ‘Room 104’. The Guardian reported that hackers have released 3.4GB of data, and that they’re demanding that HBO pay an undisclosed ransom to prevent further leaks.
This data includes drafts scripts from five ‘Game of Thrones’ episodes, technical documents detailing HBO’s internal network and administrator passwords. One document also has a list of personal phone numbers, home addresses and email addresses for all of the season 7 ‘Game of Thrones’ actors. The hackers have also obtained a month’s worth email conversations of HBO’s vice president for film programming, Leslie Cohen.
In a statement to Wired, HBO spokesperson Jeff Cusson says “The review to date has not given us a reason to believe that our email system as a whole has been compromised.” The hackers have asked the company for large amounts of ransom in return of no further leaks. Despite of this breach, there has been no damage done to the latest release of the ‘Game of Thrones’ episode.
