Alleged terrorist killed, another held in shootout

The members of Special Investigation Unit (SIU) with the help of area police killed a terrorist and apprehended another after an encounter and recovered weapons and ammunition from their possession in Landhi in the wee hours on Thursday.
According to police sources, on a tip-off about the presence of terrorists involved in different activities of terrorism, a SIU team along with local police raided a house in Muslimabad Colony near Gul Ahmed Mill in the jurisdiction of Quaidabad police station.
Seeing the police, the terrorists opened fire on police which was also retaliated. Resultantly, a terrorist identified as Imran was seriously injured and later succumbed to injuries on the way to Jinnah Postgraduate and Medical Center (JPMC).
His accomplice Gul Zaman, said to be a resident of Wazirstan, was arrested. However, two other terrorists managed to flee in the cover of aerial firing, the sources said. A Kalashnikov, three TT pistols and a huge quantity of ammunition was recovered from them.
A case was registered and further investigation started. In another case, a man was gunned down by two unidentified motorcyclists in the limits of Mehmoodabad police station.
Police said Shaukat son of Sanaullah was on his way when two armed men riding a 125-CC motorcycle opened fire on him. He died on the spot and his body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate and Medical Center (JPMC) for autopsy Police registered a case and started further investigation.
