Off-camp: IDPs asked to get registered

02 Jun, 2009

Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) residing in rented houses, with relatives in Punjab, Balochistan and Sindh were advised to report nearby offices of United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) for registration, Spokesman Special Support Group Lieutenant Colonel Waseem Shahid said Monday.
Talking to PTV, he said, after registration the off-camp IDPs would become eligible to get aid. The list was forwarded to provincial Social Security Department for providing them necessary aid and other facilities.
National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) had been assigned the task to verify the data of registered IDPs to avoid the chances of any doubling of registration. Responding to a question, he said, the information about war zone's curfew timing and relaxation could be listened on FM 96 radio in Swat valley.
