Philippines shares higher

Philippines share prices closed 1.29 percent higher on Tuesday, lifted by Wall Street's rally overnight and positive news from the United States, dealers said. The composite index rose 31.77 points to 2,490.42 points while the all-shares index rose 0.88 percent to 1,612.59 points. There were 81 gainers, 39 losers and 39 unchanged.
Turnover amounted to 4.383 billion shares worth 3.702 billion pesos (78.5 million dollars). Globe Telecom rose 1.57 percent to 965 pesos while Energy Development Corp gained 2.7 percent to 3.80 pesos. Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co added 0.89 percent to 2,245 pesos while Filinvest Land Inc climbed 5.19 percent to 81 centavos.
