National Assembly body on Social Welfare discusses relief services

The meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Social Welfare and Special Education held here on Tuesday at the Parliament House discussed the relief services by the Ministry of Social Welfare and Special Education and Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal.
MNA Rubina Saadat Qaim Khani chaired the meeting. Pakistan Bait-ul-Mall, Managing Director, Zamurrad Khan comprehensively briefed the committee over the relief services being provided to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). He further informed that free food is being provided to the IDPs on daily basis in their camps. The President has given 500 million for the rehabilitation of the IDPs, he added.
The committee strongly recommended to the M/o Social Welfare and Special Education to award gold medal in the acknowledgement of his services. The committee also made appeal to the welfare organisations to come forward for the help of the IDPs in order to minimise their hardships.
The committee further recommended that the families of new born babies may be shifted to cool areas ie Mansehra, Abbottabad etc. The committee also took serious note of the fake camps established across the country for collecting donations in the name of IDPs and strongly recommended that donation camp may not be allowed without prior permission of concerned DCO of the respective district.
The committee was also informed about the shortage of doctors at the IDPs camps. In this regard the committee directed the federal government and provincial governments to depute doctors especially lady doctors, paramedical staff to look after patients at the IDPs camps. -PR
