The daily wages employees of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) celebrated the decision of a three-member Supreme Court (SC) bench on Tuesday regarding their regularisation of services and they said, 'Now we are hopeful that our rights would be reconstituted.'
They said that President Asif Ali Zardari had promised to regularise their services and in spite of elapsing one-year period no directive was issued in this regard. They said that court had directed the CAA management to place the employees of daily wages in the Group-I scale and submit a compliance report to it within a month.
They said that ministry of defence was main hurdle in the way of their regularisation as CAA's General Manager (Legal), however, law officers admitted before the court that a summary regarding regularising the services of daily wagers had been sent to the Defence Ministry for approval, but no response had been received yet. According to them, the court directed the CAA management not to sack daily wagers and pursue the case of regularisation of their services.
