Partly Facetious: 'I wonder who writes their speeches'

03 Jun, 2009

"I am sick and tired of being told that we have potential."
"Potential is good."
"Whatever do you mean?"
"Well, it's good to have potential then to have no potential."
"You are into stating the obvious aren't you!"
"Well, you were the one who asked me what I meant."
"Yes, but I thought you were going to come up with some interesting philosophy. Instead you just say the obvious."
"Philosophy doesn't enter into the picture when you talk of potential, except when you are talking of the potential of our politicians."
"Now don't go there."
"OK, but you started it."
"So going back to why you are sick and tired of being told that we have potential. What exactly were you referring to?"
"This time Raza of the State Bank, has said that he reckons that the banking sector has potential for growth."
"A Governor of the State Bank thinks that the banking sector has potential for growth! Thank the good Lord for small mercies."
"Don't be facetious."
"Sometimes, I wonder who writes their speeches."
"Right, but the main culprit is poor intelligence so we need to find out who provides intelligence to our political appointees."
"How about Rehman Malik? He is still the Minister for Interior against all odds shall we say, and the odds are defined as his mounting mistakes, verbal as well as performance of his ministry."
"The same Rehman Malik who put a hefty price on the head of a terrorist named Liaquat son of Asfandyar who apparently has been in jail for the past year and a half according to reports."
"I guess the same Rehman Malik."
