Minister stresses equal opportunities for special children

The special children should be provided with equal opportunities to make headway in the society. This was stressed by Sindh Minister for Information Shazia Marri, while speaking as chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony at a school for the deaf here, says a statement on Friday.
The Minister was of the view that the special children did not lag behind as far as the abilities were concerned and that they should be provided equal opportunities for progress and development. She called for undertaking planning in such a fashion that the lives of such youngsters should be improved.
The JS Academy for the Deaf was established some five years ago and at present some 170 youngsters are acquiring education from nursery up to college level. A national seminar was also organised by the JS Academy, it was further stated. Shazia Marri also performed the inauguration of the website of the Academy. The founder of the Academy Laila Dossa presented the welcome address on the occasion.
