Kashmiri delegation led by Kashmir American Council, Executive Director Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai met with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Mian Nawaz Sharif, here on Friday.
The delegation briefed Mian Sahib about the latest situation in Kashmir. Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai appreciated the efforts of the Pakistan Muslim League in general and Mian Nawaz Sharif in particular for supporting the just cause of Kashmir. Dr Fai highlighted the role that Pakistan can play in helping settle the long-standing issue of the Kashmir dispute.
Mian Nawaz Sharif assured full support to the Kashmir freedom struggle and expressed concern over the escalation of the human rights violations in the disputed state of Jammu and Kashmir with reference to recent abduction, rape and murder of two young Kashmiri women at Shopian. It is pertinent to mention that Nawaz Sharif Sahib hails from a family that traces its roots to Shopian in the Kashmir valley. His father, Muhammad Sharif, migrated in 1947 (during the troubled Partition) to Pakistan from Amritsar, India.
The Kashmiri delegation also met Moulana Fazlur Rehman, Chairman, All Pakistan Parliamentary Committee at the Parliament House. The delegation welcomed the initiative of the Kashmir Committee for sending various parliamentary delegation to various important capitals of the world.
The delegation included Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front member Rafiq Dar, Kashmir Center Washington member Sardar Zulfikhar Khan and All Parties Hurriyet Conferece members Mehmood Sager, Farooq Rehmani, Waleed Rasool.-PR
