Two policemen were killed and four others injured, when Rescue 15 officials averted heavy loss of life and property, killing a potential suicide bomber as he tried to cross the wall of the building in G-8 Sector. The suicide bomber tried to cross the wall of the Rescue 15 building from the rear side at 8.30 pm on Saturday.
Police officials on guard duty warned the bomber and later opened fire, injuring him. The bomber then blew himself up near the wall. The blast damaged the security wall and guardroom of the Rescue 15 besides windowpanes and glasses of adjacent buildings. Federal capital was in grip of panic after the attack and security was further enhanced to avert more such attacks.
A room at the entrance of the center was completely destroyed in the attack, while constable Salahuddin and Naib Muhrrar Munawar died on spot and four others including ASI Anwar, constables Tariq, Hamza and Ramzan were injured in the attack.
Ambulances and paramedics of the rescue organisations including Rescue 1122, Edhi and others reached the site of the blast immediately. The entire area was cordoned off while forensic experts of Bomb Disposal Squad started collecting samples and other evidences.
DIG Operations Islamabad Police, Binyameen told the media at the blast site that one policeman namely Munawar was killed in the bombing while four others were injured, two of them in critical condition.
