The Amir, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Punjab, Dr Syed Wasim Akhtar on Sunday has castigated the government for rising Haj and Umra fares. The JI leader said that fares for religious rituals were rising despite a drop in the price of petrol internationally.
'It shows that the government has lost the grip on its affairs and there is no check on increasing trends of prices,' the JI leader said adding that inflation had obliterated all walks of national activity and fares of Haj and Umra were no exception.
Recalling the old fares, Dr Akhtar said six months back Saudia bound air ticket cost was Rs35, 000, which was now Rs56, 000, nearly double from the previous fare, he added.
