Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan, H.E Sapar Berdiniyazov called on the Federal Minister for Water and Power, Raja Pervez Ashraf on Tuesday and discussed matters of mutual interest, bilateral trade and for enhancing the economic co-operation in various fields. The ambassador said that Turkmenistan has great thermal power generation with surplus power. He offered to export more power to Pakistan.
He also discussed the various aspects of proposed conference of Inter Governmental Economic Commission to be held shortly in Turkmenistan. While discussing the matters, the minister briefed him on the current energy situation and stated that all the resources are being utilised to overcome the current energy crisis. He said that long, medium and short term measures have been planned to meet the current and future power requirements.
He said that Pakistan wants to create regional electricity market to enhance regional co-operation. The minister said that Pakistan is ready to import power from Turkmenistan through Iran. The minister and the ambassador also discussed the possibilities for import of power from Turkmenistan through routes via Afghanistan.-PR
