AJK government has proposed plan in forthcoming annual fiscal year 2009-10 budget for the uplift of the electrification system. The plan include improvement of existing supply lines, and installation of new express feeders and high power transformers in all the three districts of Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimbher in Mirpur division during the coming fiscal year, official sources said.
The sources told APP here Tuesday that the AJK Electricity Department had fixed the priorities to achieve the current fiscal year development target fixed for entire Azad Jammu Kashmir including Mirpur division. The new transformers and the poles will cost about Rs 60 million, according to the sources who added that ongoing development projects would be completed within the stipulated period. Colossal funds have already been earmarked for the installation of the new express feeders in Dadayal, Islamgarh, Samani and Bhimbher, they added.
The sources said that it was hoped that the revenue and development targets would be successfully achieved by the end of the ongoing financial year ending on June 30. The last fiscal year target for realisation of revenue was also successfully achieved, the sources added.
Meanwhile, the high ups of the State Electricity Department have directed the officers and the field staff to fully concentrate to discourage the trend of the pilferage of power besides the line losses.
At least five thousand new electricity connections were proposed to be provided during new financial year, sources said adding that the a big chunk of the development targets were achieved by the electricity department in the current financial year. The department has taken effective measures for ensuring the smooth and stable supply of electricity to discourage the fluctuation in power supply including the ongoing problem of low voltage in various parts of Mirpur circle.
