Suicide incident of security guard: SSP operations directed again to file detailed report

The Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed again the SSP operations to file a detailed report and progress in the investigation of suicide incident of a security guard due to non-payment of salary but he failed to file the report despite lapse of a week.
The Chief Justice, Khawaja Muhammad Sharif on June 4, 2009 had taken suo motu notice on the news stating that one Salman Shafiq Butt, 31, brother of two local journalists, committed suicide after he was denied to pay two-month salary by his security agency, owned by a retired colonel Muhammad Safdar.
On Wednesday, the SSP Operations was again directed to file his report about the incident and alleged police pressure on aggrieved family to reconcile the matter with the security agency owner, a nominated accused in the FIR registered under section 322/506 PPC at Allama Iqbal Town police station.
A PML-N MPA, Rana Muhammad Afzal, a retired SP police Masood Tariq and security agency's manager Nasir were also accused in the FIR. As per details, the security agency had deployed Salman Butt, the deceased security guard, at a CNG station. On April 29, last Salman committed suicide after he was denied of his two-month salary.
The owner of the petrol pump a MPA first promised to provide a clearance certificate to the deceased's family pertaining to regular payment made to security agency by the CNG station in connection with the provision of security personnel(s).
