Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Thursday asked the legal fraternity for co-operation for establishing supremacy of the Constitution and rule of law in the country. The Chief Justice said this while talking to a delegation of Bhalwal Bar Council, which called on him in his chambers.
He appreciated the delegation for its role on the principle of independence of judiciary. The delegation discussed with the Chief Justice issues and matters being faced by the legal fraternity.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan asked the members of the delegation to co-operate with courts by coming prepared to argue the cases and avoid seeking adjournments so that cases could be decided quickly and relief could be given to litigant parties.
The members of bar assured of their full support and co-operation to bring about improvements in the dispensation of justice and cleansing the judiciary of corrupt elements to actualise the vision of the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
In addition, the delegation assured to extend their co-operation in the implementation of National Judicial Policy 2009 and also praised struggle of the Chief Justice of Pakistan for strengthening the role of judiciary in the society. Furthermore, the delegation extended invitation to the Chief Justice to visit Bhalwal Bar Council. The Chief Justice accepted their invitation, and assured them that he would visit the bar in due course of time.
