The roundabout adjacent to Quaid Mausoleum, built at a cost of millions of rupees, to be demolished within few months to facilitate the construction of Corridor-III. This lack of co-ordination and planning between the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) and Jamshed Town Administration has caused big losses to the exchequer which also shows negligence of the two administrations as well.
The beautiful traffic circle, made by the administration of Jamshed Town, was touching the new corridor, which passes though the Preedy Street leading towards Jail Chorangi. According to sources, the town administration had renovated and decorated the roundabout, without consulting the CDGK, which has already planned to construct the signal free corridor to pass through this area.
Interestingly, Syed Mustafa Kamal, City Nazim, had inaugurated the roundabout just a few months ago and praised the town's efforts for beatifying the area, they added. They said that the lack of co-ordination between the town administration and CDGK had not only caused huge loss after demolishing the Chorangi, but had also damaged the newly carpeted roads of Shaheed-e-Millat and Jail Road where the flyover is under consideration to facilitate the corridor.
They said some months before starting the construction of the flyover the roads had been carpeted, which needed the renovation after the completion of the construction work in the area. Masroor Memon, Town Municipal Officer (TMO) of Jamshed Town, admitting the losses, said that the town administration had no information regarding the Corridor-III. Denying the allegation negligence he said that it had constructed the Chorangi six month ago when the work on the Preedy Street had not started. However, other sources said that the town administration had renovated some parts of Numaish Chorangi, adjacent to Mazar-e-Quid, after demolishing the beautiful roundabout.
