President Asif Ali Zardari has resolved that the government would continue war against terrorism and extremism and paid rich tributes to the personnel of armed forces for doing heroic job in the war for the country's survival. Addressing the nation in the wee hours on Saturday, Zardari announced increase in the allowances of military personnel equivalent to the monthly salary.
The increase in the salaries will remain a permanent feature. He also announced setting up of cantonment in Swat. The President said that the government would not abandon the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of Swat. The IDPs would soon be repatriated to their homes, said the President in his less than eight minutes address. "The Taliban are forcefully imposing their agenda. They are terrorising the nation to capture the country's institutions," he said. The militants who call themselves Taliban are actually the enemies of education.
"We will continue this war till the last. The Parliament, the political parties and above all the people of this country support this war. This is war for the country's survival. We will have to win it," he added. He said the government would soon increase the salaries of the government employees also. The President said that he was waiting for the report of pay commission.
He said that Taliban and their nefarious designs were exposed to the people. The people support the army offensive against the militants, he added. Taliban, he said, are killing and butchering people, destroying schools and colleges. They are doing it in the name of Islam, he added. The President also sympathised with the families whose relatives were martyred in this war.
