All set to celebrate Independence Day in Rawalpindi

The day will dawn with special prayers in the mosques for the prosperity, security and speedy progress of the the country.

A great hustle and bustle is witnessed as vendors have set up stalls selling colorful badges, variety of national flags, banners and portraits of national heroes.

The national flag can be seen fluttering on cars, bikes and at numerous places, showing enthusiasm of the people for celebrating the Day.

The educational institutions will also hold special programmes to mark 70th Independence Day.  Special prizes would be awarded among those who decorate and illuminate their building attractively, an official of the district administration said.

Seminars, conferences, stage dramas, books and painting exhibitions, debates will be held on the occasion.  Sweats will be distributed among the poor.

Special prizes will be awarded to those who decorate and illuminate their building.       Parks and Horticultural Authority (PHA) has also displayed the portraits of national heroes to celebrate the 70 years of Independence Day in a befitting manner.

A flower show will be held in PIA park in Murree while a flag hoisting ceremony would be held on August 14 at Nawaz Sharif park.
