New IDP camps on the cards

Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) Najamuddin Khan has emphasised the need for robust planning for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of conflict-stricken areas of the NWFP Province. The minister expressed these views while talking to the UNHCR country representative, Guenet Guebre-Christos , who called on him here on Tuesday.
The minister told the UNHCR country representative that the SAFRON ministry is holding deliberations with stakeholders to identify potential locations for internally displaced persons' (IDPs) camps to be established in the likely exodus from Waziristan and Bannu areas The UNHCR also agreed to provide non-food items to the 15 to 20 thousand IDPs living in four camps, in Upper Dir, in the meeting. The UNHCR representative expressed gratitude to the government of Pakistan for the facilitation and transportation of the dead body of an UNHCR official to Belgrade.-PR
