Lions Club sets up eye hospital in Korangi

The Lions Clubs International have established an eye hospital in Karachi's Korangi Area, International Director of Lions Club International, Malik Khuda Bakhsh said this on Sunday. He said that the facility has been named as Lion S.M. Shafi Memorial Hospital.
Malik stated that the hospital has been set up in the poor people locality of the metropolis with a view to help extend medical facilities to them. Earlier, he performed the inauguration of the renovated block of S.M. Shafi Memorial Hospital where initially eye treatment would be made available.
Malik said that a sum of five million rupees has been spent on the project apart from the equipment etc.
He stated that at a later stage it would be developed into a full-fledged hospital. Malik further pointed out that the Lions Club International is a leading non-government human services organisation, which has established this facility on self-help basis.
Chairman of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (Kati), Mian Zahid Hussain, described this as a good hospital which will contribute towards meeting the needs of people of the locality.
